Lasse out and about
04 Oct 2006
Yesterday was the premiere of "Du & Jag", Lasse's son Johan's movie debut. Of course Lasse attended it to watch his son in action and the two of them posed for a few adorable pictures:

If you want to know more about "Du & Jag" (which translates to "You and I", as far as I can tell with my barely existant Swedish knowledge), you can visit the production information at Sonet Films or the official site of the movie.

I also found a short article in which Lasse talks a bit about Johan's movie and The Hoax (again, as far as I can tell) , but I'm gonna have to bug someone about a translation.
Fall Revamp
03 Oct 2006
So, I cleaned up a bit. Got rid of a few bugs (mainly the evil one in the gallery) and "construction sites", and added a few new or long overdue things in the web section.

I created a "shop" section with links to Lasse's movies on DVD and will be adding links to related books and movie posters within the next few days.

Then, I uploaded a photoshooting Lasse did in early 2000:

.

Aaaand, Lasse has been connected to yet another movie:

The Weinstein Co. is getting very busy these days according to Variety. The company is in talks with Lasse Hallstrom to helm "Rain in Spain," a potential starring vehicle for Penelope Cruz.

(from DarkHorizons.)

Unfortunately I couldn't find anything about the story yet, but I guess there should be something soon if it's actually gonna happen.
Lasse honoured for his work
29 Sep 2006
The swedish-american Chamber of Commerce celebrated it's 100-year anniversary on September 26 and honoured Lasse with a Life Achievement Award award for his work in movies and tv.

CONGRATULATIONS! smile

Four pictures of Lasse and Lena at the event can be found here in the gallery.
Hoax premiere at the Rome Film Festival
27 Sep 2006
The ever so brilliant Anton found out that Hoax will premiere at the Rome Film Festival on October 15. It will also be screened a second time on October 16.

Tickets go on sale today (both screenings seem to be public), if you want to find more about the schedule, the location and where to purchase tickets, visit the official website of the film festival:

http://www.romacinemafest.org

They also uploaded a new Hoax still that I promptly added here too:

I feel so tempted, October 15 is my last day of holidays and the movie won't be released here in Germany before January/February...so, Rome would be an awesome chance to see it in original language without having to wait ages......

Oh, and sorry for the week long update break...I'm working on getting the database about Cider House Rules online, but wanted to read the book before I do that. I just finished it yesterday, so hopefully the database will only take me a few more days.
Sven Nykvist passed away
26 Sep 2006
Cinematographer Sven Nykvist passed away a week ago. He worked with Lasse on Gilbert Grape and Something to Talk About and taught him a lot. If you want to read more about him go here, Lasse also phoned in on The National Public Radio to talk about Mr. Nykvist, you can listen to it here.
Article + more
17 Sep 2006
I sorted through my picture folders and found two more stills and an additional poster from My Life as a Dog, as well as a really nice Hoax set picture:

.

Then, Anton scanned a lovely article/interview from 2001, mostly about The Shipping News (Lasse describes the film as "wacky" laughing):

Expatriate Dreams.

And I came across a small still from The Hoax which I though was worth posting:

My Life as a Dog database entry..
